While in law school, she passionately focused on practical family law opportunities to supplement her academic education. To that end, she participated in and completed a 40-hour training program to become a licensed family law mediator; she interned for the Domestic Violence Unit at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office; she was selected to assist Professor Jay Folberg, a respected and accomplished professor of Family Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution, to assist in research and with the publication of his book on ADR; and she interned with the Family Violence Unit of Bay Area Legal Aid, where she managed a significant case load, representing victims of Domestic Violence in various family law cases. There, Ashley was exposed to the specific challenges that low income families and immigrants face in the legal system. Ashley was awarded a “Public Interest Law Certificate” for her family law extracurricular efforts throughout law school.

Ashley is a mom to Andres, her toddler, and partner to chef, Bryan Medina. She enjoys reading, cooking, yoga, signing children’s songs and spending time with her friends and family.   She grew up outside Philadelphia, PA and received her B.A. from Georgetown University in 1998.  She has lived in the Bay Area since 2001.
